From unuseful blaah, to fully functioning bedroom, work space, living room and half-bath.
The clients wanted a minimal but inviting primary suite bedroom, living room, and work space to retreat to on the second story of their old Craftsman house. One of the pair using this space stands at 6'-2" tall, so getting all the functions arranged along the peak of the space was essential for his comfort. The budget didn't allow for a dormer to be added, but I managed to get them a half-bath and walk-in closet nonetheless. Three new skylights and one enlarged window brought in plentiful daylight, and the ceiling was raised a few more inches and finished with salvaged timber as a unifying highlight throughout the space.
