Foyer Utilization

A waste of space, to an oasis of organization

This started as a very typical Craftsman foyer--over sized for its usefulness in modern times.  After stealing several square feet for a new bedroom closet in the adjacent space, I divided the rest into two sections, creating an entry zone for guests to be welcomed and hang their coats, with a beautiful and pragmatic zone for the family tucked behind to stuff all their crap.  The clients, being somewhat handy, made this built-in plywood feature themselves, matching the woodgrain as it wraps the corners to give it a more luxe vibe.  The result is a super useful, and not too bad to look at foyer in this real-life day-to-day family home.
